happiness

Life Could Be a Dream, (Sh-Boom) If I Could Take You Up In Paradise Up Above... Life Could Be a Dream, Sweetheart.... A few lines from the 50's song Sh-Boom by The Chords and one of the soundtracks for Disney's "Cars". This is one of the "happy songs" for me.

Sweetheart. I remember when my hubby and I were still in our office in Rufino, Ayala. That's where we met. I kinda hated him when I first met him. I was the Exec. Secretary and of course, secretaries have to be present at meetings. We were seated on a round conference table where I was asked to take down notes on what they're gonna be needing to be able to work on the project. And so the short activity went on and when I asked if there's anything else that I need to prepare, he annoyingly stated that "Ahm, maybe I'll tell it directly to Sir William". Hah! It annoyed me, really! I felt he treated me just like an "extra". So I said to my self "wait and see what I'm going to do with you - who do you think you are?" An hour later, I met this "annoying guy" along the receiving area and said with a grin, "Ma'm we're leaving, Thank You." and I answered back my 'maldific' way "Then Leave! Does it look like I have the EXIT door written on my forehead?! Do I look like that damn door to you?!"

A week went on, and I'm seeing this guy everyday and it's annoying. Calling everyday, time after time at the office and calls me "sweetheart, is Sir William there yet?". When he arrives, I hear that "word" again. My friend advised me to ignore him. One day, we were together on the dining table for lunch. Oh, I had to let my teeth sink into a scrumptious meal and my eyes to the annoying guy! An elder officer from the office was like an aunt to me. I was talking to her (in front of the guy) about my resignation. The guy just talked saying that "If you want to resign, don't leave anything else you have here". I just stood up and left the table.

I had my boss aware of my resignation, unfortunately, he did not allowed me to leave. So I still worked for them, and I didn't know what happened but the annoying guy became my friend. I found out, he's cool anyway. From everyday seeing each other and talking about our tasks, playing Text Twist blah, blah, blah. Little by little, I am talking to myself about this guy that we're starting to have common feelings and sweet treatment towards each other.

He started sharing his pains to me that even his mom doesn't know about and felt sorry about it. Then we started going out with our office mates, going home at 12:00 AM or 1:00 AM even when there's a lot of work tomorrow. Almost every night we go out with friends. And learned about each other's likes, etc.

I think I've spent quite enough time to learn about the guy. I fell in love to whoever he was. All I can see is a man who can make me happy and laugh. So, here we are now. Enjoying our two beautiful gifts from God, Derryck and Dwyane.

Life could be a dream
If I could take you up in paradise up above
If you would tell me I'm the only one that you love
Life could be a dream, sweetheart

Oh, life could be a dream
If only all my precious plans would come true
If you would let me spend my whole life lovin' you
Life could be a dream, sweetheart.....

What Goes In (part II)

Most of us eat with rice and for some other natives they eat with corn and/or potatoes. White rice is common in meals because it does not throw spices and other ingredients and makes very good filler, main source of energy but it is mostly empty calorie. There aren’t any real nutrients in rice. Rice is all starch, which turns into sugar in the body when digested, since most starchy foods are rapidly broken down into sugar. Carbs give us energy, and sometimes raise our blood sugar too much. Additionally, when some cooked starches, such as potatoes and rice, are cooked and cooled, a small percentage of the starch takes longer to digest. Some starches aren’t digested in the small intestine at all, but they go to the colon and broke down, where they may play a vital role in the health of the colon as well as the rest of the body. Some of the fibers and starches, which ferment in the colon, in other words, extra digested by bacterium there, (generate an essential type of fat useful for the body) which are difficult for the body to get hold of in any other way.

It is better to eat other wild grains and Brown Rice. Brown rice is really white rice with the bran left on (only the husk is removed). This means that more of the nutrients are preserved. The flavor, however, is slightly sharp and similar to wild rice. Some brown rice do have other layers removed, but have not been "polished" - polishing makes the rice white. Brown rice is a good source of manganese, and the minerals selenium and magnesium.

One processed food that seems to be digested more slowly is pasta. But it is better if we will eat those made from herb or specifically Spinach Pasta (green in color). These veggie-made pastas are a very good source of beta-carotene and lutein, two important cancer-fighting anti-oxidants. This leafy green vegetable is also loaded with folic acid, vitamin K, magnesium and manganese. Remember to cook it al-dente because it affects how glycemic your pasta can be.

When eating bread, prefer to buy wheat bread or the multi-grain bread. These have lots of fibers, which help clean the digestive system and regulate blood sugar. Eating foods that contain high amounts of fiber helps us let go some of those toxins accumulated in our intestines.

Maybe a lot of you have heard about trans-fat. Oh, that's just one of those horrible ingredients on your food, (sometimes on breads) and horrible things it can cause to your body!

What Goes In...

A lot of people always think... "as long as I look and feel healthy, I am healthy." Well, better think again. You may look and feel healthy but have you tried observing yourself - on what you eat - what's in it? How about your daily dose of the right vitamins and minerals - are they really making you or they go with your urine, flushed into the toilet? Would you be happy if one day you wake up and alarming you that your days are counted?

Living way back from the past, everything is so simple. There were not so many pollutions and chemicals in those days. What causes these never-ending increases of deadly diseases that is inflicting such havoc on the body today? Because our body is commonly said the Temple of God - it is a gift from God, so why not take good care of it and make it valuable more than your top of the line gadgets.

Here are a few facts that I wish sould help you in some ways and start turning on a few changes.

FOOD.
Our food gives us the energy we need for the day. It is also the source of numerous vitamins and minerals we need to stay healthy and might as well fill up in those deficiencies. But little do we know that some of them trigger many illnesses, diseases, deficiencies, behavioral and attitude disorders, and a lot more. But we have to really be careful on what are the contents and ingredients of our food, because not everything that gives us energy - makes us healthy.

When I was pregnant with my first son, an old cheerful man from the park asked me about my pregnancy. He asked if I eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies, of course, I do, they're my favorite. He advised me to eat fruits and veggies that have a few traces of fruit and veggie worms. (You know, the caterpillar-like looking little guy that chomps on your fruits and leafy veggies.) Why? Simply because a fruit or veggie eaten by a worm doen't contain any harmful chemicals from the pesticides sprayed on them by the farmers. the worm of course won't eat the fruit or veggie if it has chemicals in it. A clean looking, no trace of worm, tomato , bought from the market two months ago still looks fresh and so red. No fruit or veggie would last that long on the fridge even when placed on the freezer unless it has a chemical or pesticide to keep it fresh looking. I wonder, some of the fruits and veggies on the baskets of the markets and groceries, how long have they been there.

Has someone from the nutrition group enlightened you on how to eat fruits? Yes, how. Do you eat them, as how it's usually taken, after your meals just like a dessert? Or you eat them with your meal? I received an email containing this presentation on how to eat fruits. many of us have heard people complaining that "every time I eat watermelons I burp" or "when I eat bananas, I feel like running to the toilet", etc., These would not occur if only you had eaten fruits on an empty stomach. Fruits are mixed with the other putrefying food that produces gas and hence bloat. Fruits should be taken on an empty stomach. if we eat fruits that way it will serve a major role to detoxify our system supplying with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities. Let's say, first, you eat two slices of bread and after, a slice of fruit. As fruit digests quickly & ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but the breadm which takes longer to digest, blocks its passages. It is incorrectly presumed that some fruits like orange and lemon are acidic and will enhance acidity in the stomach. Researches however show that all fruits become alkaline in our body. Don't eat cooked or preserved fruits because you don't get nutrients at all. You get to taste along with the sugars on it. Cooking, heating or preserving fruit juices destroys and takes away the vitamins and nutrients.

Fiber is good for our digestive system. So gobble the pulp or the whole fruit better than just gulping the juice. When you need to drink fruit juice, drink only fresh juice; NOT those in cans, boxes or powdered. Don't drink juice that has been heated up. Drink fruit juice, by mouthful but slowly, 'coz we must let it be mixed with our saliva, for our saliva has enzymes that help break down some of the starch of the food and helps in fat digestion.

Cleanse and detoxify you body on a fruit fasting week. A fruit salad without the condensed milk and cream would be great. Cheers!
