Moving Out
Woke up at 5.30AM. We're about to move out of this old apartment in a day or two. Just can't wait. I didn't like this old apartment in the first place until this very last time. The floor was dyed cement finish. White-painted walls with CHOCOLATE BROWN doors! Since the place is old, the smell of migrating roaches is everywhere in the house! The side wall of the area at the back have big openings that BIG rodents use as passages. The corners have cracks or small longitude openings where roaches migrate. Remedy: we placed chicken wires and nets so that these filthy, big rodents can no longer go through the openings and there fore cannot enter our back door to distribute the diseases that they carry along with their urine and poop. We applied cement on the cracks to cover the migration area of the roaches, but I don't know where else they go in and out. I don't even know why there is still a stinking smell whenever we do the laundry. At the bathroom, you can also smell the unpleasant odor of the roaches. This is where my residential rent P8,000 goes...We discovered that the wall at the back of the toilet tank has a small opening, small enough for roaches to pass through. Even the pathway outside have dog poops scattered. Eeewww!!! I've even found a really big centipede here, on our room near where my kids play. It's wider than my thumb. The first one I saw was big too and black and it crossed through my toes, thankful it didn't bit me. My grandma said she was bitten once and then she had a terrible high fever. There are actually many centipedes in this house, they're just hiding, because some would just come out of a small opening in the bathroom. I would never want my kids to be bitten.
This black one with orange legs here is the first big centipede I've seen in that house. The one that crossed through my toes.
The next one here is bigger than the first centipede I saw. It's the one I found in our room. This one is bigger than my thumb.
The unit's floor area measures 96 square meters. Yes, yes ... the unit is quite big - for a small family; we're only four - my two sons, my husband and me. But I still don't like this unit though. I do not want to waste money for renovation, it ain't gonna be mine in the future, just like a rent-to-own unit; so why invest on its renovation? It ain't my task either. The ceiling's quite low, so the heat from the mid-day sun gives this place a very hot ambiance 'till night... and dehydrating heat!
Our room's floor is covered with big, whole rubber mats for the toddlers. Same on the left corner where the bed is placed. In order to prevent painful head bumps. Ever since we had kids, we decided not to use the bed frame because my kids would only get hurt from frequent falling because they keep on running and jumping non-stop. To avoid accidents, we just leave the bed on the floor. Since the room is extremely warm, we have to use air-con. But the room is really big, plus the warm temperature, the air-conditioning unit takes quite half an hour or even more to keep up with the thermostat to make it cool (damn, the bill!). Unlike from our previous apartment, the room is half the size of our room here, so the air-con unit doesn't take that long to make the room temperature cold.
Add to that the confusing water bill. It's just like having a swimming pool in my apartment! Before, we only have a monthly bill of P150 - P200 and when we used to have a maid, we have a water bill amounting to P300 - P350. Here, we were very confusingly charged a bill of P1,200 - P1,800 a month. If you would just review the bills given to us, you would notice the big difference from the previous high cubic meter used with a lower amount, and the other bill with the lower cubic meter used and higher charges. You can even notice the inconsistent meter reading from the given bills and obviously different water meter number! Last March we received a bill amounting to a surprising P300 pesos only! Geez ...
And, last but not the least, my noisy neighbor's kids! They're terribly making my earwax go out on their own. Our room is just right next to theirs. The front of their room, the area where they play noisily is just very near to our room; so whenever them kids would shout terribly loud, it's just like they're inside our room! They're just inconsiderate. You knew to yourselves you have the same size verandas and terraces and exactly next to that veranda is a room. The wall that ends that veranda is a room just like yours! A room where my kids sleep soundly and would cry so hard every time they would be awaken by their annoying noise. We have never done that ever since we lived on our previous unit and even in this house - to let my kids play outside noisily where there is a room just right next to us or if someone is sleeping or having a rest. If you have the GREY MATTER, you would think first, "oh, it's a room just like ours, maybe it's not right to let them play noisily ESPECIALLY WHEN THE ROOM IS NOTICEABLY QUIET so that means no one is playing nor watching TV which simply means someone might be sleeping". Even when the kids are inside the house, you would hear the very loud cry of these kids each and every hour of every day. Sometimes, it would even last for a couple of hours! Even the mufflers of their cheap scooters were facing our room's windows! So every time the owner would rev up this cheap scooter, the hazardous smoke from the mufflers would get inside our room! (He waited until he is told?! Geez, does he really have to be informed about that??! Common Sense went all out the muffler!!) It even has an alarm just like a car. (Like someone's gonna try to steal it by carrying his scooter over their fence...!)
Well anyway, I am excited about saying goodbye to this place. No more too noisy inconsiderate neighbors. (Hey I've got kids too but we never made noises like they do, those loud, endless, shout-like cries for a couple of hours that would disturb neighbors.) No more stinky vapors of old septic tanks, stench of roach and rodent odors. No more rude crews and cooks of the neighbor restaurant. No more dog poops scattered on the pathway.
Hope the new place has a pleasant ambiance and nice neighbors and nice environment. AND NO MORE LUPINs!!!
