For tastier foods, MSG is added to recipes and manufactured foods. MSG or MonoSodium Glutamate is very well known for its purpose as a flavor enhancer or food additive. It is addictive and has the effect that stimulates our brain cell activity, making your brain transmit the message that the food you’re eating is just delicious or tasty; hence, you’re going to buy some more. But it doesn’t make you any healthier. Food manufacturers choose substandard type of food items (of which has a lower price) to be processed and just use MSG as additives to give it a “consumer” taste. They do this so as not to affect the profits they make from consumers. Of course, people would choose and eat more of those “tastier” products than those that do not contain MSG. Yet, there are still a lot of people out there insisting that MSG use is safe. But I have serious sensitivity to this item. I know I’m not the only one who experienced negative responses with MSG.
Bryan, (not his real name) is fond of eating this instant stir-fried noodle. Every day he finishes 5 whole packs of this instant noodle as his snack. Bryan gained unusual extra pounds and his size really grew big for a 15-year old boy. His continuous consumption of this instant stir-fried noodle soon resulted to poor eyesight that he had to wear glasses. After a month more of great consumption of the instant noodle, he declared that he’s feeling weak (for a big body) and his mother noticed a yellowish color of his eyes and skin. They took Bryan to the doctor and they were informed that Bryan’s kidneys are malfunctioning. His parents were asked what Bryan has been eating and again the instant stir-fried noodle was mentioned. The doctor took the chance of informing the parents of how instant foods can terribly affect our body. He said that these are processed foods and processed foods undergo preservations. Preservatives give these packed/processed foods their shelf life. Aside from these, since they are processed, what do you think would give this addictive taste? MSG is an additive to these packed, manufactured, processed foods that deliver damages to the human cells particularly to the brain and vital organs if ingested exceedingly. You may have remedied his poor eyesight by giving him eyeglasses, but have you ever thought, our eyes are connected to the brain. The additive that resulted his poor eyesight damages the brain. Next, the yellowish color of his eyes and skin. The additives and chemicals already affected his kidney that resulted to the discoloration of the eyes and skin. I’m afraid I can no longer bring his kidney back to its normal function. There are two things I need you to do: firstly, you pray for his fast recovery, and last, find a kidney donor to replace his damaged kidney. That’s all, said the doctor. Thank God, Bryan survived the kidney transplant sponsored by his father.
Aireene never knew how to cook. What she can only give her kids are canned foods and instant noodle soup. If I have the chance to give her some of the food I cooked, that’s the only time her kids can eat right foods. One day someone from her “in-laws” came over to assist her with the meal for the kids. She told the representative to be the one in charge to cook for the day for she was feeling terribly dizzy. She was asked what she’s been eating, she said “the usual food we have, instant noodles and canned foods”. The representative told her that the culprit of her dizziness was the processed foods they’ve been eating. She advised to try learning how to cook right foods because it’s not only her who’ll get affected with the processed foods but as well as her kids.
When I was a kid, I was asked by my mom to buy her some MSG or Monosodium Glutamate. While walking from the store on my way back home, I opened the pack and started tasting it. It tasted good so I dipped my finger in and had some more. After maybe 2 or 3 dips and 25 steps away from our house, I immediately started to feel very dizzy/wobbly. I told my mom that I tasted this MSG and that it made me feel dizzy in an instant. Imagine, if it tasted good to me, I could’ve swallowed it all up and after a few seconds could’ve collapsed along the way. Whenever we would accidentally inhale the stench of chemicals such as gasoline, LPG gas from the stove, ink toners, paints, etc., sooner or later we’re suffering from a terrible headache or intense dizziness; because the chemical contents are hazardous. If this MSG thing has no chemicals or poison-like component that isn’t bad for our body, then why did I felt dizzy immediately after tasting it? Just like relishing any other sugar by finger dips would not make you feel dizzy. How many of it have we taken in our body so far and how much more are we going to have?
A doctor from the company I’ve worked before discussed that the chemicals and poison-like ingredients from the food you eat are accumulated in your intestines or absorbed by your blood, causing an abnormal blood flow that forms blood clots and further delivered to your kidneys, liver and heart, thus your vital organs will slowly deteriorate and trigger chronic diseases. He also said that food-containing MSG could terribly affect the brain functions. Like I said, many people are still unaware of the hazards of MSG and persistence with continuous use of it. People who know how bad MSG is, just don’t care not to touch the stuff! Is it because they have been paid large amounts just to deny the truth about this “killing me softly” stuff? Others would spread lies justifying that the use of this stuff is safe. Is it because they are part of the company who profits from the confused users?
